Who is the person behind Crafting Butterfly, and where do all her ideas come from? The first bit is easy, my name is Caroline, and I am the mother of three children and have four grandchildren and an animal and nature lover. My home is in Wellington, Somerset, just on the edge of the Blackdown Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

My ideas come from the nature around me, from the colours to the textures, to the freedom to experiment and continually try new things and new ideas. The only thing that causes me problems is a chronic health condition that restricts what I can do; this is why the products I make are so diverse; if I am having issues with my hands, then I move on to something that does not cause me problems.

Our products

Our felt and fabric products are all hand sewn, using materials from UK suppliers who produce high-quality fabrics made from natural materials. We don’t like waste, so we reuse and recycle whatever we can to ensure that each piece of material is not wasted. The natural materials we use include cotton, linen, felt, and hessian.

The painted glass bottles are created using bottles destined to be sent to the tip; initially, they were mine from a previous product I had made. These are all painted by hand with specialised glass paints, which when then processed to leave a permanent design.

My original abstract acrylic paintings allow me to fully express my love of colour and shape—only a recent addition to my products but so much fun.

What we offer

Our range of items changes depending on the season and availability of materials, and our current inspiration, but you can often find a range of hand sewn soft toys made from felt that are perfect for small hands. We also make keyrings, painted glass bottles, and acrylic paintings, including a rapidly growing range of notebooks, cards and fridge magnets, so it’s always worth checking back on our online shop to see the latest additions to our shop.
